  1. About this program
  2.  
  3.      This program (BCLIPPER.EXE) was designed and written as a
  4.      data browser. It does not include any functions not
  5.      consistent with this goal (re-indexing files, editing
  6.      data, etc.).
  7.  
  8.      It requires Windows 3.x.
  9.  
  10. Program installation
  11.  
  12.      1. Copy the program into any directory on your hard disk.
  13.  
  14.      2. Start windows and select the window that you want to
  15.      add this program to.
  16.  
  17.      3. From the FILE menu, select the NEW entry.
  18.  
  19.      4. Select PROGRAM ITEM.
  20.  
  21.      5. Add any appropriate description and use the proper
  22.      path (the directory that you copied the program into).
  23.  
  24. Program features
  25.  
  26. 1. BCLIPPER.EXE reads Dbase III files and uses Clipper indexes
  27. (.NTX). Up to ten (10) indexes can be open simultaneously.
  28.  
  29. 2. Only one (1) index can be active at a time. Use the INDEX
  30. pull down menu to change the active index.
  31.  
  32. 3. This program is Network ready and has been tested on a
  33. Novell Network.
  34.  
  35. 4. It is acceptable to execute two or more copies of this
  36. program at the same time, and look at the same data file, to
  37. get different views of the data.
  38.  
  39. 5. The SEEK command only works if a valid index is open.
  40.  
  41. 6. The FILTER command may take a few minutes to find all the
  42. records that meet the condition if the data base is very large
  43. (20,000+ records).
  44.  
  45. 7. The main window is resizeable to allow you to fit the data
  46. you are looking at to the situation.
  47.  
  48. 8. The STRUCTURE child window can be moved completely off the
  49. main (parent) window if desired, providing an unobstructed
  50. view of both the data and the structure. This STRUCTURE window
  51. will follow its parent. If the parent is minimized, the child
  52. will also be minimized as part of the parent. If the parent is
  53. closed, the child is also closed.

  55. 9. All menu commands also have hot keys assigned to them. The
  56. key assignments are:

  77. 10. If the contents of a data base will not fit on the screen,
  78. a scroll bar will appear (vertical, horizontal or both if
  79. necessary)

  81. 11. Only registered users of this program can access the print
  82. functions. The data base structure or the actual data can be
  83. printed.

  85.
